About CLT

RPOP is also proud to operate as a Community Land Trust (CLT), a nonprofit model dedicated to creating and permanently preserving affordable housing. Inspired by the legacy of the Southern Civil Rights Movement and the pioneering work of Black farmers in 1969, RPOP’s CLT ensures long-term affordability, allowing generations of residents to build wealth while staying rooted in their community. We are part of a growing movement of CLTs across the nation, working to sustain equitable access to land and housing.

Our Impact

The Community Land Trust (CLT) at Russell: A Place of Promise (RPOP) creates lasting opportunities for affordable homeownership and wealth-building in the Russell neighborhood. By preserving affordable housing and ensuring community control over land, our CLT helps residents build equity, start businesses, and secure career opportunities without the threat of displacement.Rooted in the legacy of Black farmers and the Civil Rights Movement, RPOP’s CLT empowers residents to shape their future while maintaining the cultural and historical integrity of the neighborhood. Our goal is simple: to create a thriving, resident-owned community that builds wealth for generations to come.

Support & Funding

RPOP has raised over $30 million to support its work and the work of its partners since 2018. Most of these funds have been used for operations and community programming, or exist in the form of loans controlled by other organizations that can be accessed for neighborhood projects.

Some grant dollars have been earmarked for the 30th and Madison Street project, and a capital campaign will be launched in 2025 to support the project. RPOP has received technical assistance and funding support from the following organizations for 30th and Madison Street.
